Ballot Question #2 Repeal of Chapter 40B

The group thanked Mary Tobin for writing the letter to the editor against repeal of Chapter 40B. The letter was published in the Sharon Advocate.

The group reviewed the November 2nd voting results for Sharon. Question #2 did not pass in Sharon or state wide. The results in Sharon were 4115 NO/ 3216 YES.

Warrant Article #5 Requesting Transfer of CPA to Sharon Affordable Housing Trust

Because proper procedure was not followed concerning application to CPC for transfer of these funds, the warrant article was indefinitely postponed.

SHP Meeting with Sharon COA

Jane Desberg, Mary Tobin and Susan Saunders met with the Sharon Council on Aging on October 19, 2010. The COA would like to work with the SHP on issues related to Accessory Housing.  Jane Desberg distributed “Guidelines for Creating Family Accommodations” , a document prepared by the COA to help residents navigate the very difficult appeal process.  The SHP was asked to review this document. The COA also expressed interest in supporting B’nai Brith concerning the development of senior affordable housing in Sharon.

Sacred Heart Site

Only one proposal was received for development of this site from a group calling itself “A Miracle in Sharon”. This proposal concerns the development of 50-75 units of housing for developmentally disabled adults. B’nai Brith submitted a letter of interest but may have been initially dissuaded by the language in the RFP which did not list housing as a primary objective. There will be a  public hearing on these proposlas and Jane will forward the date and time of this meeting to the group.

Other Business

Jane Desberg and Lou Modestino are up for reappointment and are scheduled to appear before the Selectmen on November 16 at 7:15 PM.

Town Meeting also voted to accept various land parcels.  The group discussed what these parcels represented and though it is likely they are simply small parcels Jane volunteered to get further information on these.
